SimV Showcases Tool, MTAT, at NDIA’s Human Systems Conference

SimVentions had the honor of presenting the software tool, Mission Task Analysis Tool (MTAT), at the annual National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Human Systems Conference in Arlington, VA. Matt Wilson and Lisa Bolin, both from our Technology Solutions Group (TSG), demonstrated the benefits of MTAT to industry, government, and academic leaders within the Human Systems Community. The presentation and exchange of technical information to attendees demonstrated how MTAT assesses human performance. These impacts are based on mission context, system functionality, tasks, activities, as well as human and system resources. They are also based on Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) and mission scenarios. Using MTAT facilitates the planning, organization, assessment, reporting, and recommendations required for guiding, building, and sharing task analysis processes.

About MTAT

MTAT provides a framework to capture and analyze individual or team performance; MTAT quantifies the impact on overall mission readiness. Every human performance analysis has unique requirements and constraints. The use of MTAT provides a means to conduct a scalable and tailorable analysis to meet the specific requirements applicable to an analysis. The tool combines human performance elements in one interconnected tool framework to help manage the complexity of the study. The tool facilitates a review of the findings. MTAT has proven success with the Navy and Marine Corps but applies to broader DoD, civilian, and non-military user base.

A human performance analysis is often manual and time-consuming. Simillarly, a human performance analysis is often lacking in accuracy, dependent on the analyst’s ability to mentally “connect the dots”, and interpret both the design and human impacts. These analyses usually use an ad hoc collection of textual documents, spreadsheets, viewgraphs, and other standard office product artifacts. MTAT combines all these elements in one interconnected tool framework. This helps manage the complexity of the analysis and facilitates a review of the findings.
