SimVentions Promotes New CIO and Group VP

Fredericksburg, VA, 05-13-2022: SimVentions is pleased to announce the promotions of Mr. Robert Fidler to Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Mr. Brad Neal to Vice President (VP) of the Electronic Warfare and Combat Systems Group (ECG). Mr. Fidler will be responsible for leading the Information Technology (IT), Facilities, and Security teams. Mr. Neal will provide leadership and oversight for SimVentions’ ECG programs and projects.  

Robert brings significant academic accomplishments, including a computer science degree with a minor in mathematics from Randolph-Macon College and a Master of Science in computer science at the University of Virginia. Robert comes with over 30 years of program management, software engineering, and systems engineering support to the United States Department of Defense (DoD). He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). His academic accomplishments, certifications, operational and technical excellence, demonstrated leadership, and thorough understanding of SimVentions and its culture uniquely position him for this role of CIO. 

Robert has assumed the CIO role from Paul Gatanis who, after 11 superlative years as SimVentions’ CIO, has announced his retirement at the end of the year. “Robert’s education, professional certifications, 7+ years of experience leading one of our largest operating groups, 13+ years with SimVentions, and 30+ years as an engineer and program manager will all be leveraged in his pursuit and strategic plan to provide our employee-owners with professional IT, Security, and Facilities services so they may continue to focus on the success of our customers,” says Joe Caliri, SimVentions’ President. 

Brad was most recently the Director of the Innovative Research Team (IRT) within the Technology Solutions Group (TSG). He has over 24 years of program management, engineering, and leadership experience supporting the DoD. Brad earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech and has been with the company over 16 years. Brad is a recent graduate of the yearlong Leadership Fredericksburg Program, where he was voted class president by his peers. He has been instrumental to many of SimVentions’ successes over the years. 

“Brad’s leadership experience with software-intensive systems as well as rapid technology transition will be instrumental in the continued success and future of our Electronic Warfare and Combat Systems Group,” says Megan Shepard, SimVentions’ Chief Operating Officer (COO).
