SimVentions Welcomes New Board of Directors Members

Fredericksburg, VA, 09-06-2022: SimVentions is pleased to announce the appointment of three new Board of Directors members. The three new members will be joining the existing six board members: Larry Root, Joe Caliri, Matt Wilson, George Hughes, Paul Gustavson, and Steve Goss. Each of the new members bring diverse and extensive knowledge and experience, with which they share SimVentions’ mission statement: to be trusted partners in engineering services and technology development by cultivating innovation and delivering on promises.

Bonnie Dowd

Bonnie is a seasoned Human Resources (HR) professional with 30+ years’ experience.  She brings 25+ years of knowledge from within the defense contracting industry where she served in several leadership roles. In 2020, Bonnie founded PCC Strategy where she and a team of consultants collaborate with small to mid-sized companies in building HR infrastructures and provide HR services across all phases of the employee lifecycle including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, culture and engagement, performance management, Mergers & Acquisitions and employment law.

Bonnie has advised and actively participated in several mergers and acquisitions and provides guidance on the due diligence process and strategic HR approaches.  During her career, she built a HR department; led it through Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and International Standardization Organization (ISO) certifications; and participated in the full interview panels.

Bonnie received her Bachelor of Science in business management at George Mason University.  She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources Management (SPHR) through the Society for Human Resource Management where she also holds a certification in HR Ethics.  In previous years, she held a certification through the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics and has served as an ethics and compliance advisor during her career.

Bonnie has served on the board at SimVentions over the past year and is currently the Chairperson for the Compensation Committee.

Ryan VanderWijst

Ryan is the SimV Chief Financial Officer (CFO).  He is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and oversees the SimV Finance, Program Control, and Contracts departments ensuring sound financial performance while providing strategic analysis for growth and innovation. Ryan has been with SimV for 11 years and brings over 20 years of experience as a software engineer, systems engineer, program manager, and operations group director.

Ryan also serves on the board for Smart Beginnings Rappahannock Area and the Leadership Fredericksburg Advisory Committee. He has earned two Bachelor of Science degrees from West Virginia University in economics and information systems and an MBA from the Mendoza School of Business at the University of Notre Dame, where he received the Frank Reilly Academic Achievement Award. He is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and holds a PMP certification.

VADM (Ret) William E. “Bill” Landay III

Vice Admiral (VADM) (Ret) Landay served 35+ years in the US Navy culminating in leadership roles at sea as Commanding Officer of USS Aquila (PHM 4) and USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60) and ashore in various joint and acquisition billets. His experiences as Program Executive Officer (PEO) Littoral and Mine Warfare, PEO Ships, Chief of Naval Research and Director Defense Security Cooperation Agency provide an ideal background for supporting the interests of SimVentions employees and customers. Since his retirement from active duty, he has served as a member of the board of directors in several small and mid-size defense companies, bringing strategic vision and an understanding of the challenges of a growing company to SimVentions.

VADM (Ret) Landay holds a Bachelor of Science degree in systems engineering from the US Naval Academy. He also has a Master of Science degree in systems technology (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence [C4I]) from the Naval Postgraduate School and is a graduate of the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School. He was the 1998-1999 Navy Fellow in the Defense Systems Management College, Military Research Fellowship Program. He is a DoD level three certified acquisition professional and a proven subspecialist in C4I systems.

SimVentions would like to extend best wishes to Rear Admiral (RDML) (Ret) Herbert C. “Herb” Kaler, who has retired from the board. “We want to thank RDML (Ret) Kaler for his many years of invaluable service to SimVentions, both as an employee and as a board member and wish him ‘fair winds and following seas’ in his retirement,” said SimVentions CEO, Larry Root.
